Vice President of Investor Relations

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Investor Relations (IR) will report directly to the CFO.  This role will play a critical role in shaping the company's communication strategy and fostering strong relationships with the investment community. This executive-level position requires strategic thinking, exceptional communication skills, and extensive experience in both finance and biotech industries. The VP of IR will serve as the primary point of contact for investors and analysts, ensuring that the company’s value proposition is clearly articulated and understood.  There will be travel requirements that are consistent with roles of this type at similar biotech companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive investor relations strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives.
    • Provide strategic insights to the executive team regarding market trends, investor perceptions, and competitive landscape.
  2. Communication:
    • Prepare and deliver presentations for investor meetings, conferences, earnings calls, and other public forums.
    • Craft press releases, investor presentations, and corporate materials that effectively communicate the company’s vision accomplishments and strategic direction.

 

  1. Investor Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional investors, analysts, and other stakeholders.
    • Conduct regular outreach to key investors to gather feedback and address any concerns or inquiries.
  2. Reporting and Analysis:
    • Monitor and analyze market trends and competitor performance to inform strategic decisions.
    • Oversee the company’s financial communications, including quarterly earnings reports and annual filings.
  3. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor the investor relations team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
    • Coordinate with internal teams (finance, legal, operations) to ensure consistent and accurate messaging.
  4. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure that all investor communications comply with regulatory requirements and best practices in corporate governance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Communications; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in investor relations, finance, or corporate communications, with a strong background in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing investor relations, as well as relationships with bankers and analysts.
  • Deep experience with preparing and delivering scientific and development and marketing investor presentations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific and financial concepts clearly.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively across different departments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on results.
