Director, R&D Imaging Product Development (Vascular)

Our Medical Equipment client based out of the Chicago, IL area is looking to add a Director, R&D Imaging Product Development (Vascular) to their team! This role may be based in IL or work REMOTE with travel to the HQ where the rest of the team sits. The Director will oversee the R&D Strategy for their Vascular Imaging Division and manage a team of algorithm scientists, software engineers, and systems/detector scientists. They will also play a critical role interfacing with their parent company in Asia. The R&D Vascular Imaging group works closely with the hardware, FPGA, mechanical engineering, and clinical teams. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

 

• Develop and lead the overall R&D strategy for Vascular Imaging, including technology strategy and system design, budget management, staffing and hiring strategies, vendor and collaborator

management, and operational excellence.

• Oversee design and development of 2D fluoroscopy and DA image quality algorithms, 3D cone beam CT algorithms, imaging chain optimization, and system dataflow optimization.

• Optimize ongoing operations to achieve maximum efficiency and incorporate learnings from other internal departments and teams.

• Align with key stakeholders across the company and subsidiaries to achieve success in the overall Vascular Imaging roadmap.

• Establish regular meetings with key stakeholders to update on progress and solicit feedback.

• Work closely with regulatory teams on product clearance efforts.

• Promote and foster a mindset of continuous growth, rigorous exploration, and teamwork for internal teams.

• Work closely with senior leadership team members to define and execute company-wide objectives.

 

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field.

• 10+ years of experience leading R&D product development teams with recent experience in Vascular Imaging under FDA, EU, or other major country regulatory guidelines.

• Experience with building and developing highly functional teams.

• Experience with global leadership and effectively working with different cultures.

• Strong knowledge of training & developing people.

• Excellent leadership skills.

• Experience managing direct and indirect teams in an environment that embraces continual learning and change.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and digital.

• Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and rigorously explore.

• Some domestic and international travel required (approximately 20%).
